agutterfan Ethereal, haunting seascapes of songs, delicate but never precious. Semi-acoustic with female voice, a fine debut. Favorite track: Two's Company.

Cory J I can't tell you how many times I've replayed this EP, over and over again. The vocals, the lyrics, the overall ambience of it still punches me in the gut. A great EP to sit and think to. Or sleep to. Or smile to. Or share with those you care about. Beautiful. Favorite track: Claimed by the Sea..

Wisdom 01:56
These are not my words of wisdom. Don't follow me down this road, It's not the right path for you. Follow your heart, Follow your heart, And if it doesn't speak loud enough, Listen closer...

There are cockles and broken glass spread across the floor. The door is wide open and the sand made drifts all down the hall. Broken panes in the window reflected light in from the sky. This is no longer my house, it has been claimed by the sea. A starfish is dying down by the laundry, Ironically the washing machine is half full of seawater washed in by the waves at night, leaving a salty snail-like trail behind. This is no longer my house, It has been claimed by the sea. Claimed by the sea, and it was always going to be, Claimed by the sea.... I've planted a garden in assorted pots. The flowers are drooping and waterlogged. Seaweed lay in wreaths like it was Christmas time, A Christmas in a house that wasn't mine. Been claimed by the sea, and it was always going to be, Claimed by the sea....

Marauder 04:42
I want an adventure, I want it now. I don't want to stay here, it's turning me sour. Everybody's settling down, down. I don't want to settle down. I want to fly through the air from here to there, never unpack my bags. Cause I want to be a traveling marauder, Cause I want to be a traveling bard. I hate these four walls, I want to depart. Search through the pages of an old world encyclopedia, searching for places that I know nothing of. Cause I want to be a traveling marauder, Cause I want to be a traveling bard. I hate these fours, I want to depart.

The Cats 04:07
The cats are walking down the alleyway tonight. Licking clean the cans from the rubbish pile. The air is fragrant with the smell of chicken bones and the rest of the cities debris- this smoggy night. Hold me tightly my dear, I need you now, To feel less lonely, in this lonely place. When everybody stands so close but won't look me in the eye, it's such a twisted life so Hold me tight. Like pigs within a cage we are controlled, By traffic lights and other molds. Most of us sing to the same old tune, Except for a special few who see through the hazy lights, to a better view. Hold me tightly my dear, I need you now. To feel less lonely, in this lonely place, When everybody stands so close but won't look me in the eye, it's such a crazy life so Hold me tight. It's such a twisted life so Home me tight. It's such a crazy life so Hold me tight.

There is a light in the parlour, Flickering all of the night. He won’t sleep till the morning light, Has come in. ‘Cause there are ghosts in his house, Knocking on all of the walls, And on the window panes, Scratching with dirty old fingernails. He whispers go away, go away. Hey, hey I’m a weary old man now, And I’m sorry but I don’t know how to fix, A ghost’s broken heart. At night while he waits for the morning to arrive, He flicks through the pages of an old photo album, At night he dreams of the places and the people he knows, the regrets that he can’t change, he will never move on. He whispers go away, go away. Hey, hey I’m a weary old man now, And I’m sorry but I don’t know how to fix, A ghosts broken heart.

If you suffer for love is it worth twice as much? If you resist the call, will it linger on? And inhabit your dreams, so you cannot sleep, Because you’re so afraid of what you might see… It’s hard to make a choice based on the beat of the heart, It’s hard to make a choice based on the sweat in your skin. It’s hard to use your voice to say, when it feels so weary and thin, Two’s company, two’s company. If you take out some time to just whistle and wait a while, by the garden gate for the mail to arrive. Maybe someone will send you a sign, A beam through the fog of what the future will be like. It’s hard to make a choice based on the beat of the heart, It’s hard to make a choice based on the sweat in your skin. It’s hard to use your voice to say when it feels so weary and thin, Two’s company, two’s company. If you suffer for love is it worth twice as much? If you resist the call, will it linger on? And inhabit your dreams, so you cannot sleep Because you’re so afraid of what you might see, Two’s company, two’s company.

about

This album was made carefully in the Surgery with Lee Prebble, except for 'Claimed by the Sea' which was made carefully at home in Sefton, New Zealand. It was then sent across the ocean (or perhaps under it) to be mastered in Berlin by Tim Armstrong.

All songs written by Brooke Singer, with John Fitzgerald contributing some magic to tracks 3, 4 and 6.

Big thanks to our Mums, Dads and Brothers, to our collective friends at Home Alone Music. We would also like to thank all our wonderful musical friends for being awesome.
